"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" video

I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you.

I have run, I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you.

But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her finger tips
It burned like fire
(I was) burning inside her.

I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone.

But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.

I believe in the Kingdom Come
Then all the colours will bleed into one
Bleed into one.
But yes, I'm still running.

You broke the bonds
And you loosed the chains
Carried the cross of my shame
Oh my shame, you know I believe it.

But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.

But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.
But I still haven't found
What I'm looking for.

About "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"

From the original U2 Album "The Joshua Tree" (09 March 1987)

This song was released as the Joshua Tree second single and became U2 second #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 after "With or Without You", the first single from the album, and peaked at #6 in the UK Singles Chart and at # 6 on the Dutch Top 40. It was named the 93rd greatest song by Rolling Stone on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

History

The song grew from another song called "Under the Weather Girls". A rough version was taped. However, Joshua Tree co-producer Daniel Lanois didn't like it — except for Larry Mullen, Jr.'s drum track and Adam Clayton's bass line, which the band used as the foundation of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". The development of the song saw the addition of such things as a subtle auto-pan effect added to one of The Edge's guitar overdubs and Bono, a tenor, singing in the upper register of his range to add to the feeling of spiritual yearning. Both Bono and Edge have, in fact, called it a gospel song on numerous occasions. Daniel Lanois says he is very attached to "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" and has, on occasion, joined U2 on stage to perform it.

The music video for the song was filmed on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, and featured the band members wandering around while The Edge played an acoustic guitar. [From Wikipedia]
