"Love Is Blindness" video

Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my heart, love is blindness.

In a parked car, in a crowded street
You see your love made complete.
Thread is ripping, the knot is slipping
Love is blindness.

Love is clockworks and cold steel
Fingers too numb to feel.
Squeeze the handle, blow out the candle
Love is blindness.

Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my love,
Blindness.

A little death without mourning
No call and no warning
Baby, a dangerous idea
That almost makes sense.

Love is drowning in a deep well
All the secrets, and no one to tell.
Take the money, honey...
Blindness.

Love is blindness, I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night around me?
Oh, my love,
Blindness.

About "Love Is Blindness"

From the original U2 Album "Achtung Baby" (19 November 1991)

"Love Is Blindness" was written during the Rattle and Hum sessions and in Australia during the 1989 Lovetown Tour. Bono had struck up an acquaintance with Frank Sinatra and "Love is Blindness" shows cabaret influences. Bono described The Edge's guitar solo as "a more eloquent prayer than anything I could write."

Live performances

The song was either the final or second last song of Zoo TV Tour shows; with images of the night sky projected were shown on the screens. The Edge played the song on his Gibson Les Paul Custom, and included an extended guitar solo in the live performances. A backing track was used to create some of the resonating bass effects. A performance is seen on the Zoo TV: Live from Sydney video, with Bono performing the song in his MacPhisto persona and dancing with a girl from the audience. It was not played again until 1 March 2006 on the Vertigo Tour's stop in Buenos Aires. [From Wikipedia]
